The annual faculty and staff recollection was held last September 28 to 29, 2017 in Fullon Hotel Tamsui Fishermen’s Wharf, New Taipei City. This recollection aims to build togetherness with ourselves, with others and with the Lord. The Dominican Sisters, Sr. Ma. Zenaida Ancheta, OP, Sr. Ma. Socorro Teofilo, OP, Sr. Leticia Delfin, OP, Sr. Ines Chen, OP and Sr. Margarita Lin, OP likewise attended the recollection.
The facilitator was Fr. Dexter Austria, OP., a Filipino, based in University of Santo Tomas, Manila, Philippines. The recollection started with a holy mass which was held in one of the meeting rooms in the hotel.
After the mass, Father Dexter started the first session with a video about Jesus and the Samaritan woman. An ice breaker led by Ms. Susan Wu and Ms. Julie Wu, preceded his talk.
The two PE teachers, Mr. Gustl Pido and Mr. Erwin Discaya provided the participants with an animation (a short form of exercise) that made them loosen up after a delightful lunch. The participants were divided into small groups for sharing their thoughts and insights about their one self.
A ninety-minute siesta was given to the participants to chill-out and check-in the hotel. After which, Father Dexter had the opportunity to continue his talk/dialogue with the participants.
After dinner, the participants were given free time and had an option for a confession/dialogue with Father Dexter.
On the second day, Father Dexter celebrated mass in St. Columban Catholic Church, Beitou with the participants. It succeeded with Sr. Ma. Zenaida Ancheta, OP awarding Fr. Dexter a certificate of recgnition for being this year's faculty and staff recollection facilitator. The faculty and staff will cherish the recollection he conducted for it was meaningful and a memorable experience. A mini tour within central beitou was given to some participants. The tour centered on the historical landmarks - Xinbeitou Train Station, Beitou Park and Taipei Public Library-Beitou Branch. The participants were treated to a hearty lunch at Sweetme Hotspring Resort.
The participants arrived in DIS at around 2:30pm.
