Solemn Investiture of the 20th Directress

September 11, 2023, marks the day of the Solemn Investiture of the new Directress/Principal of Dominican International School (DIS). Sr. Jacqueline C. Manuel, OP, the Vice-Principal, succeeds (+) Sr. Ma. Zenaida T. Ancheta, OP. The investiture ceremony formally honors the 20th Directress/Principal of DIS. It is a significant event that marks the importance of leadership within the DIS Taipei community.

Sr. Teresita Su, OP, Prioress Provincial of the Province of St. Vincent Ferrer of the Institute of Religious Missionaries of St. Dominic (IRMSD), officially introduced Sr. Jacqueline C. Manuel, OP as the 20th Directress/Principal of the Dominican International School in Taipei. She, then, encouraged the school community to support her in fulfilling her ministry.

The ceremonial introduction of the members of the DIS Community followed. Academics and Curriculum Coordinator, Mr. Joe Schoeman, presented the faculty and staff of DIS. The Extra-curricular Activities Coordinator, Ms. Agosh Librea, presented the members of the Volunteer Involved Parents (VIP), the student council, and other student organizations. Sr. Teresita administered Sr. Jacqueline’s profession of Faith and Oath of Office. After this, Sr. Jacqueline signed the Appointment Decree and Sr. Teresita handed over the Stamp of Office (Official Stamp of the Directress of DIS Taipei) that ultimately symbolizes her office and authority.

The investiture ceremony ended with the singing of “Te Deum laudamus” (Latin: “God, We Praise You”), a Latin hymn to God the Father, Christ the Son, and the Holy Spirit, which is traditionally sung on occasions of public rejoicing.

Sr. Cecilia Hsu, OP, School Board Chairperson, Sr. Daniela Pang, OP, Deputy Secretary of the Province, Sr. Lorna Alamares, OP, School Treasurer, Sr. Flor Ordonez, OP, Superior of Dazhi Sisters Community, and Fr. Tomasz Zalewski, OP, School Chaplain witnessed the investiture ceremony.

Sr. Rosa Dabhi, CCV, who succeeds Sr. Jacqueline C. Manuel, OP as the Vice Principal was present in the event. Also, the Principal of the Blessed Imelda School, Tsai-Ying Hwa together with Li Xing-yun and Pan Qiu-An, Academic Directors, attended the event.
