D’TORCH HOUSE welcomes new members

Theme: “Hope Does Not Disappoint” (Spes Non Confudit)

September 6, 2024

A ceremony was held last September 6, 2024, in the gymnasium, to welcome the new members of the D’TORCH House. D’TORCH House System Coordinator Ms. Arsenia (aka. Ms. Archie) Racadio greeted the new teachers, staff, and students through her welcoming address. She mentioned this year’s theme “Hope Does Not Disappoint” (Spes Non Confudit). In the spirit of hope, these words serve as an encouragement to each community member.

New House Committee members were presented: Ms. Bing Racadio, the Alumni Coordinator, and Mr. Gustl Pido, the Athletic Director. They will be an additional help to the committee since they have countless ideas to share and a lot of experience in their fields. Also a member of the House committee, School Chaplain Fr. Tomasz Zalewski, OP led the opening prayer.

One of the highlights of the events was the ceremonial lighting of the torch by Directress/Principal Sr. Jacqueline C. Manuel, OP. Committee Member Mr. Samir Eddio and Ryan Hou (G12) delighted the crowd with a song number. Sr. Jacqueline's inspirational message followed. She gave a word of hope, that hope is the central message of the coming Jubilee year, 2025. Hope does not disappoint, because God’s love has been poured into our hearts through the Holy Spirit.

New House mentors and captains took turns in parading their flags. The House mentors and captains are

A house-shaped piñata represents the D’TORCH House with five ribbons symbolizing the 5 houses, Truthful, Organized, Reflective, Courageous, and Helpful hung in the middle of the gymnasium. The new members lined up in front of the ribbon. After pulling the ribbons, it revealed the house where they belong. The House System officially opened for this school year, with the singing of the D’TORCH hymn.

The House Committee thanked all the sisters, teachers, staff, and students, including the MIT Department, and student leaders. The presence and support of Sr. Sister Jackie and the Sisters Community—have inspired us again to do what we have just done to instill the admirable Dominican spirit and values of being Truthful, Organized, Reflective, Courageous, and Helpful (TORCH).
